At the stadium I go to, banners, flags, and signs are allowed but with clear rules. The first time I took a big hand-held banner, I learned to check the policy online before the day of the game. Most places let handheld signs and small banners, but anything on a pole or that could be stuck to railings is usually prohibited. Content is also kept clean: no obscene language, no hate speech, and no political messaging that could spark trouble. A few seasons ago security asked us to lower our banner during a big moment on the field so it wouldn’t block the jumbotron or players, which was a bummer but fair. In general, signs can be held up and waved, but not obstruct aisles, exits, or camera views. Flags are usually allowed if they’re not oversized or attached to tall poles; some venues ban pole sticks altogether. If you’re unsure, ask at entry or check the venue’s sign policy online; bring something lightweight you can grip by hand, and be ready to adjust if security asks. I’ve found that being respectful and prepared makes the whole experience smoother.

I've found at the arena banners must be nonobstructive, nonpolitical, and within size limits; I was asked to move a tall flag once.

From my experience at games, banners and signs have to be non‑obstructive: no blocking aisles or exits, and no tall, sharp poles. Offensive or political messages are usually not allowed. I once used a small, soft-banner with a retractable pole and asked security to peek before the game, got a thumbs up after a quick check.
